In 1907 a narrow gauge railway was completed from the center of Bozen to Klobenstein, dropping the cog engine required for the steep 1000-meter ascent of the mountain in Maria Himmelfahrt and continuing as a tramway, which still is in use today, to Oberbozen and Klobenstein.

Corno del Renon -

South Tyrol's most beautiful look-out

Corno del Renon (2.270m) is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Alps and offers a unique 360 degree panorama as well as a magnificent view over the surrounding mountain massifs and villages.

An easy and convenient way to get up is a modern cable car. If you prefer to be active, take one of many beautiful hiking trails. From the top station of the cable car you can reach the summit in about an hour of easy walk.

Bolzano: Exciting trip to the cultural and economic center of South Tyrol

Within only 12 minutes you will reach Bolzano from the station Oberbozen by cable car: an ideal place for a stroll through town, and to go shopping in the charming town center or even for a visit of 'Ötzi' in the Museum of Archaeology.

Swimming

The idyllic Wolfsgrubener lake is a popular leisure destination in any season and in the summer a beautiful lake with a healthy bog water.

In winter, the frozen ice attracts large and small ice skaters on the Rittner sunny plateau.

Furthermore, located in nearby Klobenstein you can find a public outdoor swimming pool on a small hill with a beautiful lawn. With the Ritten Card you get free admission!

Autumn in South Tyrol

"Törggelen" is a very old and popular South Tyrolean tradition which takes place from about the end of September to the middle of November.

Part of this traditional way of celebrating the young wine is a long walk throughout the unique gold-colored autumnal landscape prior to tasting the culinary delights. Taste and enjoy the first young wine of the year and typical local specialties like roasted chestnuts, speck or home-made sausages.

Winter sports (sledding, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, and snowboarding)

When the snow turns Longostagno/Lengstein and the surrounding landscape into a magical winter wonderland, the time has come for all kinds of winter activities.

Especially for families and sun-seekers, the Corno del Renon is a great ski area with well-groomed slopes, a sledge lope and a beautiful cross-country slope.

Winter hikers can enjoy a breathtaking view over the mountains of the Dolomites and their snow white peaks.

Arena Ritten (ice skating, hockey)

The ice rink Ritten is one of the fastest outdoor tracks in the world.

In winter you can go ice skating while enjoying stunning panoramic views over the majestic Dolomites.

Ice hockey has a long tradition in Renon. The local hockey team plays in the 'A' league, the top level of ice hockey in Italy.
